Can I create more than one floor or level in seating arrangements?
you have a venue with multiple levels — a theatre with orchestra and balcony, a stadium with stands and field, a concert hall with main floor and mezzanine. You need to know if Tickera’s Seating Charts supports multi-level / multi-floor seating, and if so, how it’s modelled.
Short answer: yes, via multiple charts per event
Tickera’s Seating Charts add-on supports one chart per click in the UI, but you can associate multiple charts with the same event. Use one chart per level — Orchestra, Balcony, Mezzanine — and link all three to your event. Buyers see a chart switcher and pick a seat from whichever level they want.
Why one-chart-per-level is the better pattern
You could theoretically draw everything (Orchestra + Balcony + Mezzanine + Boxes) on one giant chart. We don’t recommend it, for two reasons:
- Mobile usability. A 600-seat single chart pinch-zoomed to find a specific row is awful on a phone. A 200-seat focused per-level chart is comfortable.
- Navigation. Buyers know intuitively whether they want “balcony” or “orchestra” before they pick a seat. Letting them pick the level first, then the seat within that level, matches how people actually choose seats.
Step by step
- Open Tickera → Seating Charts.
- Create chart #1 — call it “Orchestra” or “Main Floor”. Lay out only the orchestra-level seats.
- Create chart #2 — “Balcony”. Lay out only the balcony seats.
- Repeat per level you have.
- Open Tickera → Events and edit your event.
- In the seating-chart association field, attach all relevant charts (multi-select). Each chart you attach becomes a switchable level on the event front-end.
Worked example: a 1200-seat theatre
Three charts:
- Orchestra — 600 seats. Rows A–T. Ticket type Orchestra ($75).
- Mezzanine — 300 seats. Rows U–Z. Ticket type Mezzanine ($55).
- Balcony — 300 seats. Rows AA–FF. Ticket type Balcony ($35).
One event, three charts attached, three ticket types. Buyer flow: pick level → pick seat in that level → checkout.
For very large venues: the elaborate-layout pattern
For 5,000+ seat venues (arenas, stadiums) we have an additional workaround documented in creating large, elaborate seating chart layouts — same principle, scaled with more zones.
