I am unable to activate my license

you bought a Tickera license, entered the key in Tickera → Account, and the status still says FREE instead of activating. Frustrating because tickets keep selling but premium add-ons stay locked.

The most common cause: leftover free version

By far the #1 reason. The free Tickera plugin (downloaded from WordPress.org) and the premium Tickera plugin (downloaded from your members area) are two separate packages. If both are installed, the free one wins precedence and blocks license activation.

The fix:

  1. WordPress admin → Plugins.
  2. Find the plugin labeled simply Tickera (free version). Deactivate it, then delete it.
  3. From your members area, download the latest Tickera Premium ZIP.
  4. WordPress admin → Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, upload the premium ZIP, activate.
  5. Go to Tickera → Account, paste your license key, save.

Nothing is lost. All your events, ticket types, orders, attendees, settings — every record sits in the WordPress database, not in plugin files. Deactivating and deleting the plugin code doesn’t touch the data. When the premium version activates, everything is exactly where you left it.

Other causes if the above didn’t fix it

  • Wrong license key. Copy-paste from members area, no leading/trailing spaces. See License key not valid error.
  • Multisite network activation. On Multisite, Tickera must be activated per-subsite, not network-wide. Activate on the specific subsite where you want to sell tickets.
  • License already used on max sites. Each license has a site count limit. Check Tickera → Account on your other installs and deactivate the license on sites you no longer use, or see membership, license usage and upgrade to add more sites.
  • Caching plugin holding stale data. Clear all caches (object cache, page cache, CDN) after activation.
  • Server blocking outbound requests. License activation calls back to tickera.com. If your host firewalls outbound HTTPS, activation can’t complete. Ask your host to whitelist tickera.com.
