Sign up at twilio.com (the trial gives you free credit), buy a phone number, copy your Account SID + Auth Token. Paste both into Tickera settings.

Your message template.

Compose the SMS you want buyers to receive. Use placeholders like {order_id}, {amount}, {ticket_link}, {event_name}. Optionally write a separate template for admins.

Phones buzz.

Buyer checks out, enters their phone number, pays. Order completes. Twilio dispatches the SMS. Phone buzzes — usually before the email lands in their inbox.

How much does Twilio charge per text?

Twilio bills per message based on destination country. Current rates are on twilio.com/sms/pricing. They handle the carrier fees and you pay Twilio directly through your Twilio account — we don’t mark anything up.

Do I need to collect phone numbers separately?

No. Activate the “phone field” toggle in Tickera settings and the cart page gets a phone number field for the buyer — plus a field per attendee, if you want to text attendees too. No Custom Forms setup needed.

Can I send different messages to buyer vs attendee vs admin?

Yes — three separate message templates with their own placeholders. The buyer gets payment confirmation. The attendee gets venue details. The admin gets “ticket sold”. Each fires independently when the order completes.

What placeholders are supported?

Standard order, event and ticket placeholders — check the add-on documentation for the current full list of supported tokens.

What if the buyer’s phone number is invalid?

Twilio rejects the send and logs the error. The order still completes, the email still goes out, the ticket is still valid. Invalid SMS = nothing breaks — just one fewer text delivered.

Any per-SMS fee from Tickera?

Zero. 0% commission on every ticket sale, forever. The $29/yr Tickera license is the only money flowing here. Twilio’s per-SMS cost goes directly to Twilio — we don’t add a margin.
