Getting familiar with the Customer.io Dashboard and overview of the options useful with Tickera

When you first open up your customer.io Dashboard, it may seem a bit overwhelming and confusing. And we must admit that we completely understand you.

Right off the bat, you'll see the statistics and metrics on your Dashboard, which, if you are new customer.io user, will read a lot of zeros. That's fine and perfectly ok since you haven't set and used any campaign... yet.

1

On the left hand side, in the Email Campaigns menu you can find two items: Triggered and Newsletters.

Let's dive right in to Triggered campaign and see how powerful can it be when used with Tickera.

On the triggered campaign page, you can find a table of couple of nice example campaigns which you may use to explore the possibilities and even edit some of those to suit your needs. However, if you want to build campaign from scratch, we are here to help you with concrete examples.

6

So, once you are ready click Create Campaign button on the upper right.

When new campaign page loads, you will find a field where you can enter the name of your campaign. Go on and pick some nice name.

Below that you have to choose between two campaign types:

666

1. Segment Triggered Campaign - sending email when person enters a segment first time

2. Event Triggered Campaign - sending email each time person performs a specific email

Segment Triggered Campaign

When creating Segment Triggered Campaign, first thing you should do is to set up recipients (as the first big button suggests anyway).

7

When clicked on Set Up Recipients button, new page will load with two Conditions: Trigger Condition which is mandatory to set up as it is, just as the name suggests, Trigger which defines when the e-mail is going to be sent. When clicked on Add Segment Condition button, a dropdown menu will load where you can choose one of the items in the list.  When this trigger is set up, each time the person first meet the conditions, an email is going to be sent.

It is important to note that by default there are couple of segments already in the list but you can create the ones that suit your needs further in Segments option within admin panel of Customer.io

Next below is Filter Conditions. That field is optional and does not determine when person enters a campaign but may come handy in determining whether an email can be generated or not.

8

When done setting up, hit Save Changes in lower right.

When you are done setting up the conditions under which the emails are going to be sent, let's go back to the settings and set up Conversion and E-mail Automation.

Conversion is completely optional but it helps you measure the success of your emails. Based on what you want to achieve, you may choose conversion to be set in place when customer enters or leaves the segment you further define. Again, this segment list can be edited in Segments option within admin panel of Customer.io. When you are done setting this up, hit Save Changes in the lower right corner.

8

When done setting up Conversion, go back to Settings and hit Set Up Automation in Automate Emails or choose Emails option on the left.

New page will load where you'll be able to set up all the email related options which is going to be sent when person becomes a recipient for the first time. Options on tis page are pretty self explanatory and well organized so it shouldn't be too complicated setting this up.

6

When done with the setup, as always, click Save Changes button on lower right. And that should sum it up, regarding setting a Segment Triggered Campaign.

Event Triggered Campaign

Event triggered campaign is where all the fun is for you as Tickera user. When you first start to Set Up Recipients, new page will load with plenty of options. Before we dive in to setting those up, let's first explain what are the events in specific when you are using Tickera with Customer.io. When you connect Tickera with Customer.io and your clients purchase tickets, that activity (purchased) is recognized by Customer.io as an "event". When setting up Event Triggered Campaign, you will notice that in the first dropdown menu there is already at least one option and that should be "purchased".  Go on and select that. As soon as this is selected, each time when that event occurs, Customer.io will send an email to the recipient who performed a purchase activity (meaning: purchased a ticket).

But what if you want different emails to be sent for, say, different prices or for different ticket types? That is where Event Filter steps in! You will notice that when you have first selected an event from dropdown menu, a list of emails which match the criteria of that event are automatically loaded on the left. Now, go on and click the little down arrow next to one of the emails. A whole bunch of data will show up. All of that data represents actually the details of an order. You can see stuff like price, product id, product name, quantity, order id, order status, total, etc. The cool thing is that you can choose ANY of that to be added as filter as easy as clicking "Add as filter" next to the data itself. When you choose which data you would like to use as filter, you may even choose if you want the filter to be applied when the value is equal/not equal/greater than/less than, etc. to the given value. This comes really handy when you want to send, for example, an email with discount code for a next purchase to a customer who spent, say $120. Now the previous was just an example but as you can use filters in any way possible, you get the idea of how powerful this option can be with a little bit of imagination and creativity.

11

Setting up segment filter in this case is also optional but may be handy for determining whether you want to send the emails to all the customers or just the ones who are signed up, or haven't logged in recently, etc.

Setting up Conversion and Email are completely the same as with the Segment Triggered Campaign and are pretty self explanatory right out of the box.
